Research 

As a Communications and Media Studies major, research is one of the opportunities afforded you as a student at Converse University. We offer our students unique opportunities to research independently or side-by-side with a faculty mentor.

Internships

Majors will participate in an internship as their capstone experience in this program. Real-world experience is essential in today’s job market, and we will tailor the internship experience to the student’s interests. These internships are designed to open the door to meaningful and gainful employment.

The Communications and Media Studies major prepares students to employ professional standards, ethical practices, and legal standards in the fields of media and communications. Upon graduation from the program, you will be able to critically evaluate current materials, messages, and cultural productions.

The coursework and the final capstone (internship) ensure our students can critically evaluate communications from a variety of interpretive perspectives and exhibit proficiency in communicating effectively and professionally.

Core courses for the BA in Communications and Media Studies will emphasize multimodal communication and effective strategies for sharing information, including information gathering, interpreting and evaluating, and presenting.

The Communications and Media Studies major aims to prepare students for work in various professions, including public relations, advertising, media relations, advancement, non-profit advocacy, project management, social and digital media, and many other industries.
